WE HAVE A NEED. WE HAVE A VISION.

OakTree Academy is growing and the time is now to solidify our plan for the future.

OakTree Academy (OTA) is setup as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Currently OTA leases space from Kempsville Presbyterian Church (KPC). We are grateful for KPC and the ability to have our academy in their buildings and on their land. We have called KPC home since 2006.

For the current year, 2023-2024, OTA will have around 385 students in K4-12th grades. As we continue to grow, we are running out of room in the current KPC buildings.

OTA is working with KPC to explore growing at our current location. We are having meetings with land planning and development companies to determine what is possible. If the studies being done show that we can build at KPC, and KPC Session and KPC Church allow us to do so, great! If it is determined that building at KPC would provide major challenges, limit OTA, or simply is not feasible, then KPC is supporting the school to finalize a growth plan that will give the school a new home in the years to come.

Our vison for OTA has always been to create a school where we CELEBRATE CHRIST in everything we do in an atmosphere and environment that feels like FAMILY. We never want to be a huge school. In our school and with our students, we want to KNOW THEIR NAMES. We also want enough students to support programs that families want for their children, like athletics and fine arts. We want a gym and athletic fields. OTA’s desire is to be a school of around 500 kids in K4-12th grades. If you are aware of land, a building, a facility, etc. that could fit our needs, please let us know. We are exploring all options.

For this school year, we are here at KPC. Whether we build here, or somewhere else, KPC has said that they will give us a home as we move towards our growth plan. Building may take some time. If God moves us from our current location, we don’t want to move too far from our current epicenter, so that all of our families can stay with us.

To our current families, alumni, and extended OTA Family, join us in our gratefulness and excitement as God continues to grow our academy! Please join us in prayer as God guides us over these next few years. Pray that God gives us wisdom, favor, and resources as we determine a place where our roots can grow deep and that we can continue to plant “oaks of righteousness” for many, many more years to come.

Our founding Bible verse:

“They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:3
